Aggressive Dogs

    1. Owners MUST inform The Pet Emporium in advance if your pet(s) bite(s), has bitten, or is aggressive to people, other pets or specific grooming procedures.
    2. The Pet Emporium reserves the right to refuse/stop services for such pet(s) at any time before or during the grooming process, and charge an Aggressive Dog Fee in addition to the regular grooming charge.  If the pet should bite, the owner agrees to be responsible for any and all related medical bills, recovery costs, loss of income and equipment damage.

Matted Dogs

    1. The Pet Emporium will not dematt heavily matted coats. Dogs with heavily matted coats will only have one grooming option, which is to shave down. Sometimes, the removal of a heavily matted coat includes risks of nicks, cuts or abrasions due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats.  Heavy matting can also trap moisture and urine near the pet's skin allowing mold, fungus or bacteria to grow, causing skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process.  Torn skin from mats can also harbor maggots.  After effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and failure of the hair to re-grow. The Pet Emporium will not be responsible for any of these ailments.
    2. Dogs that have Heavily matted ears shaved run the risk of getting a hematoma. It is vital that the owner prevents the dog from shaking their heads too much after the matts have been removed. The Pet Emporium will not be responsible for the development of hematomas.

Ear Infection

    1. The Pet Emporium will not pluck ear hair from dogs with inflamed ears.
    2. The Pet Emporium will clean out ears that are inflamed but cannot promise that they are thoroughly cleaned out. Please bring your dog to a vet if your dog’s ears are red, sore and infected.

Ingrown Nails

    1. Sometimes when nails are left too long, they can grow into the paw pad. This normally causes an infection. If the dog allows us to, we will cut the nail and clean out the wound. However, if it is already infected, we will not touch the nail and will recommend that the dog be brought to the vet for the nail to be extracted.

Quiked Nails

  1. The Pet Emporium tries our best not to cut your dog’s nails too short. However, sometimes accidents do happen and when the nail is cut too short, there will be some bleeding. For dogs with overgrown nails, the quik is normally very long. In such cases, it can be inevitable that the quik is clipped. The Pet Emporium will stop the bleeding but will not be liable for any damages due to a nail being cut too short

Seniors & Special Needs Pets

    1. If your pet has any medical problems, The Pet Emporium asks to be made aware of them (i.e. seizures, arthritis, collapsing trachea, etc.) so that the groomer may take whatever steps needed to keep your pet comfortable.
    2. Many senior and special needs pets have pre-existing health issues that can be aggravated while being groomed. Many hidden medical issues can also be exposed during your pet’s groom. The Pet Emporium reserves the right to groom your pet only as far as the pet’s comfort will allow. If your pet shows any discomfort during the grooming, the grooming will stop. Also, The Pet Emporium will not be responsible for any of these ailments.
